Ingrid founded the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley 25 years ago and was named one of the 2021 Mainers of the Year by Maine Magazine.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley broke ground in May of 2021 on a new clubhouse in Gardiner. The new building is scheduled to open in late 2022. After five years of planning and fundraising, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley is ready to start building their new home, replacing an outdated one. It is a $10 million fundraising project that not even the COVID-19 pandemic could derail thanks to Stanchfield’s friends in the community.
Ingrid on the current building they are working out of: “We are an old school building which is a wooden framed building built back in the early 1950s, so the whole building is sitting on a wooden slab that was poured in 1952 or ’53. So there is really nothing more we can do with that building to make the upgrades we need.”
The Boys and Girls Clubs provide daycare, after-school programs, sports programs, summer programs and more.
