John Flynn is Vice President of Administration at MGM Resorts International as the leader of MGM’s Global Aviation Division, Security Operations Division, and Military and Veterans Program (MVP). As the leader of the Aviation Division, he oversees a team operating seven aircraft flying in excess of 4,000 hours per year serving guests on six continents. Security Operations is responsible for 24/7/365 security coverage at 19 properties throughout the U.S. Mr. Flynn provides leadership to drive an elevated and standardized security services throughout all properties. The Aviation and Security Operations teams total more than 2,200 employees and $410M in company resources.

Mr. Flynn recently led the company’s nation-wide health and safety strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He previously served as Chief of Staff to the former Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International where he supported senior executives companywide providing strategic leadership to advance the company’s business plan.

Prior to joining MGM, Mr. Flynn developed, led and implemented strategy and policy in multiple roles with the United States Air Force (USAF), in the Pentagon, on Capitol Hill and in The White House as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Adviser to then Vice President Joe Biden. 

Mr. Flynn joined the USAF in 1999 earning a commission from the United States Air Force Academy. He was a Department of Defense Legislative Fellow for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, and as a C-17 evaluator pilot accumulated more than 3,100 hours including multiple deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. After nearly 16 years on active duty, Mr. Flynn continues his service today as a Colonel in the USAF Reserves. 

Mr. Flynn holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Factors Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy, a Masters of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master Certificate from Georgetown University’s Government Affairs Institute. He serves on the board of advisors for the USO West Region and is a board member of the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada
